Please Note: While the shoe styles and colors are only required for pictures and the recital, we prefer for your child to have these shoes for class as well. All dancewear and shoes are available for order from the studio, or you may purchase them from a local dance store For safety reasons, we request that students not wear jewelry while in dance class. PLEASE LABEL ALL SHOES AND DANCE BAGS WITH YOUR CHILD'S FULL NAME.
We offer a selection of girl's dance attire styles from Revolution Dancewear in the appropriate colors for each class. We also offer all required shoe styles (boys and girls) from Revolution Dancewear. Our staff will size all students and orders are placed weekly; in most cases shoes and dancewear are available by the next class after an order is placed. All dancewear orders must be prepaid. Discounted packages are available for your convenience.
There is a $35 registration fee per student. This must be paid at the same time registration is submitted. If a dancewear package is ordered at the time registration is paid, there is a $20 discount to the registration fee.
All tuition is due on the 1st and late on the 15th of each month. After the 15th a $10 late fee will be assessed to your account. There is a $25 fee for returned checks. Students pay full monthly tuition regardless of absentees. Monthly tuition is based on a nine month year; therefore, tuition remains constant each month, regardless of the number of classes. If your child must withdraw mid-year, we must receive written notification. Tuition will be charged until written notification is received. Once costumes are ordered, in November, you are responsible for the full payment of your child's costumes. All fees are due before the rehearsal for the recital in May. Students whose accounts have not been paid in full may not be allowed to participate in the rehearsal or the recital. WE DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS.
Automatic payment plans are available for your convenience. Students on AutoPay receive a $5 per dancer monthly discount.

Refer a Friend
Any student who refers a friend will receive a 50% discount off the tuition of their most expensive class during the month following their friend's paid registration fee and first month's tuition. Students may earn unlimited referral discounts, so refer away!
The cost for each costume is $75. This may be split into three $25 payments due in October, November and January. Costume fees must be current when costumes are ordered in early November and paid in full before costumes go home (usually the end of January or beginning of February).
We present a professional recital each year in May at the BJCC Concert Hall. The students are also required to attend a dance rehearsal at the Civic Center to prepare for the recital. Recital fees are $100 for one child, $175 for two children and $225 for three or more children in the same family. Recital fees may be paid in equal monthly payments in February, March, April and May. This fee pays for one group picture of your child's class in the recital program book, one free t-shirt per child, unlimited admission to the recital for your family and friends, and one complimentary program book per child.
Classes with less than three students may be canceled or combined with another class.
Each dancer must be checked in by an adult at the reception desk. Teen students may check themselves in. Following check-in, parents must leave the waiting area until class is over and must promptly pickup their child at the end of class. Please do not check your child in more than five minutes before the start of their class.
No one is allowed in the dance room without a teacher or staff member. Please label all shoes and bags with your child's full name. Dance shoes can easily get mixed up due to the fact they all look alike. Corky Bell is not responsible for lost items at the studio. Hair must be pulled up in a ponytail or bun. Gum, food, drinks and cell phones are not allowed in the dance room.
Generally speaking, the students who do best in dance class are those who have the most regular attendance. Please email the studio if your child is sick or otherwise unable to attend class. We will be offering virtual classes in addition to our in person classes this year; students who miss an in person class may take that week's virtual class and still be counted as present (if your child makes up the class using the recorded virtual class, please notify the studio so we may mark them as present). Excessive absences may prevent a student from performing in the recital. Please make every effort to have your child in dance class on time every week.
Perfect Attendance Awards will be given at the end of the year for children who attend classes at the studio and who have perfect attendance all year. In addition, those students with perfect attendance, who attend classes at the studio, will receive free registration for the fall.
We will be closed the week of Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday and Spring Break. The studio does not close for any other holidays or teacher workdays.
If the Jefferson County School System closes due to inclement weather we will also close. In the event of inclement weather when the Jefferson County Schools do not close, please contact the studio to verify whether or not classes will be held. We will also try to post closings on the West home page of the website as well as our Facebook page.
Dancing is an activity that is beneficial to the rhythm, coordination and self-confidence of your child. However, it should first and foremost be FUN! This is the atmosphere we try to create at Corky Bell. Adding stress to a child's life about being better than someone else is not something we feel is beneficial to our learning environment. We aim to teach by encouraging all students equally from the weakest member of a class to its strongest. Our staff is dedicated to fostering the student's imagination through the art of dance.
We try to keep our website up-to-date with all newsletters that go home, holiday schedules, inclement weather cancellations, party information, etc. After costumes are sent home, we post costume accessories, picture information, recital info, etc. CHECK THE WEBSITE REGULARLY FOR UPDATES.
In addition to our regular, in-person classes, we will be offering virtual classes this year. Tuition is the same for virtual and traditional classes. Students who regularly attend virtual classes and wish to perform in the recital will be expected to attend specific in-person classes in the spring for choreography and continuity purposes. Students who regularly attend traditional classes will be allowed to make-up missed classes using the recorded virtual class. Please note that all in-person classes will be recorded and made available by a private link shared only with the class members.
Students will have designated areas to dance and place their dance bag during class. Students will be physically distanced by at least six feet from other students and more whenever possible. Please encourage your dancer to stay in their assigned dance area during class. Masks will not be required during classes, but will be required at all other times in the studio. Masks must be worn when entering and exiting the studio.
Use of the waiting room is only for students waiting for their class to begin. Chairs will be separated at all times and sanitized during each class. The dance room will be thoroughly cleaned between classes to prevent the spread of infection.
We ask that dancers showing signs of illness stay home and attend the virtual class instead of coming to the studio. Please report any known illnesses to the studio, so that we may inform the other dancers in the class. Rest assured that your privacy will be maintained, no information regarding the infected person will be shared, only the information that someone in the class was exposed and to please take precautions.
Staff will be temperature checked upon arrival daily and will use hand sanitizer liberally. Any teachers showing a temperature or signs of illness will be sent home and the dance director will teach in their place.
